oh yeah, i forgot...

By the way...

I spoke to Madame Singh the other day and she is taking her GCSE film lot to see a film next Monday at the Phoenix. It would be supercool if you could all go.

AND BEFORE ANYONE MOANS!!!

  1. Free Film
  2. Morning off school
  3. There is no 3. That SHOULD be enough. Jeez...

I think the film is 'Looking for Eric', should be good. I can't go, but YOU are!!!

Nice

LFE :)

so far so good...

What is up Media peeps?

I hope that you're all well. Just wanted to take this opportunity to say well done and pat you all on the back. You are keeping up with your blogs (most of you) and starting to make good progress with your preliminary tasks.

By Friday of this week you need to have done the following:

  • Decided on a TITLE and a TAGLINE
  • Taken loads of photographs to use - don't forget to Photoshop
  • Sorted out your layout
  • Made a few examples for audience survey purposes
  • Conducted a survey of some sort - whether within class time or in the common room - and RECORDED your findings in order to influence final design choices
  • Finalised FONT choice - type, size and colour (and said why, of course)

Ideally your front page should be pretty much done by Monday 19th - this may mean some effort made at home over the weekend.

Remember - if you get stuck or think that you've finished, do two things:

1. Always ask yourself "Have I justified my choice?" If the answer is no, then make sure you do and record it on your blog.

2. Look at the Exemplar material on Fronter. It will always give you ideas!

Next week will be dedicated to your CONTENTS page so it would be to your advantage to get the Front Page out of the way asap.

Safe blud

Well hello there lovely Media crew,

This is primarily for the benefit of Messrs Fee and Valtierra but anyone else can read it, obviously, as it's a blog

While the rest of us are at the jolly old theatre you two will be doing the following:

In preparation for your Preliminary Task (school/college magazine) you must come up with the following by the next lesson

  • If you haven't done so already, finalise your own plan of what you will have achieved by what date. It's a useful exercise to undergo. Put this on your blog.
  • Come up with at least TWO basic layouts of the front page - a basic sketch will do
  • Potential TITLES for your product
  • Potential CONTENTS for the front page - by this I mean what sort of font size/type will you use and why, what colours do you have in mind and so on
  • Decide on any STYLE you have in mind. There is a big difference between 6th Form at a school and one at a college. Note those differences and allow them to inform your research. Also, will it focus on any one department, like the exemplar material on Fronter, or will it be a little more generic
  • If you can, start to take some PHOTOS around the school. You may use your own camera or there is one in reception. Tell them it's for AS Media and it should be okay.
  • If you have time, conduct a survey of your peers. You may wish to compile a questionnaire for your own convenience and record your findings in a graph or pie chart or something like that
  • And, of course, don't forget to blog all your findings. This is important now as it's worth marks. Big. Fat. Marks.

Be prepared to stand up and present your findings to the class on Thursday. I know it seems like I'm asking you to do extra work but we will serve as a focus group for you. Focus Group = lovely research material = big fat marks. And everyone else will have to do it eventually...

If you manage to finish all of that in the space of one hour, you have my express permission to relax. Put your feet up. Jam.

Thanks ever so much

LFE :)
